The New Annotated Dracula (2008)
A big illustrated hardcover with notes running alongside the novel.
Read the novel with an annotator beside you, checking the dates, the places and the sources as you go.
You have read it before and want to read it again slowly, with someone at your elbow who has checked every date and place.
What it keeps and what it changes
Keeps: the full text.
Changes: the reading experience. Leslie S. Klinger’s notes and the illustrations are a second voice next to Stoker’s, and some readers come back for that voice.
Whose story is it?
the novel’s, and its annotator’s.
How much time does it ask?
A 2008 hardcover from W. W. Norton of more than 600 pages. Norton no longer lists it; Amazon sellers and public libraries still have copies.
Norton’s own page is gone and an independent bookseller lists it as “availability uncertain”. Amazon listed new and used copies from other sellers on 21 October 2026, and public libraries still shelve it.
